Côte d'Azur Attractions  As you might expect the emphasis in this region is on sun, sea and sand.  Amongst our favourite attractions are Aqualand and Aquatica, ideal for those days when you want to have a bit of fun in the water without battling amongst the sun worshippers!  The region also boasts some remarkable scenery with the incredible Massif de l'Esterel, the Lerins Islands and the Gorge du Verdon, the world's second largest gorge, just a couple of hours drive inland.

Cap d'EsterelLe Massif de l'Esterel

Location: The Esterel Massif is off the N7 travelling north from Fréjus.
Description:
A really beautiful regional park with beautiful views and lots of wildlife all with the backdrop of the remarkable red coloured rocky outcrops.  There are numerous tours you can follow by car, bicycle (if fit!) or on foot.  The picture is of the coastline where the red coloured rock of the Massif finally reaches the sea.
Our recommendations: For spectacular views, take a trip to the top of Mont Vinaigre.  You can go almost all the way to the top by car.  But beware, this drive is not for those of a nervous disposition!
For the children: Take a swimming costume and enjoy one of the mountain lakes – these are usually pleasurably warm in the summer. Lac de St Cassien is worth a detour to the north if you are looking for more water based activities.

It's a long time since we visited the Côte d'Azur with the children and they don't remember much about it.  So we can't offer a list of their favourites here.  If you would like to propose some, please send us your feedback.
