Best Attractions in the Languedoc  Although the Languedoc Roussillon region is best known for its splendid Mediterranean coastline, travel a little inland and you will find a totally different character with plenty to add a bit of variety to the ubiquitous bucket and spade holiday.  Not only will you find beautiful scenery such as the rolling Corbières hills, the Parc National de Haut Languedoc, or the Pyrénéean mountains, but there is also incredible history to be found with the medieval fortress town of Carcassonne and the dramatically situated Cathar castles.

Aqualand
 

Location: There are several Aqualand water fun parks in the Languedoc, situated at St Cyprien (heading along the coast to Argelès), Port Leucate (between Port Leucate and Port Barcares) and Cap d’Agde.

Costs €23.50 (adult) and €17.00 (child) (both St Cyprien and Cap d’Agde).
Description: Although these theme parks are not identical, the concept is the same, offering water slides, rapids, wave pools and such like.
Our recommendations:  They aren’t particularly cheap, however these water based theme parks make a very pleasant alternative to the beach and the kids will have a great day out there.  Port Leucate is cheaper at €15 for both adults and children. Open from 20th June-2nd September 2007.
