Canal du MidiBest Attractions in the Languedoc  Although the Languedoc Roussillon region is best known for its splendid Mediterranean coastline, travel a little inland and you will find a totally different character with plenty to add a bit of variety to the ubiquitous bucket and spade holiday.  Not only will you find beautiful scenery such as the rolling Corbières hills, the Parc National de Haut Languedoc, or the Pyrénéean mountains, but there is also incredible history to be found with the medieval fortress town of Carcassonne and the dramatically situated Cathar castles.

Argeles Aventure

Location: Halfway between Argeles Plage and St Cyprien Plage.
General Info:  2006 Admission prices were €19 for over 12s, €15 for under 12s.  There are free games for 2-5 year olds.  2006 opening: 10AM – 8PM most days in peak season and 10AM – 7PM April – September.  In peak season there are floodlit specials on some Wednesday evenings – reservation advised.  For further information check the website.
Description: A purpose built yet superb aerial activity park offering tree top fun for all ages.  Ideal if you are staying near the coast although you may dislike its purpose built style.
Our recommendations:  Take advantage of the recently opened and adjacent Parc Aquatique which boasts an artificial caving and canyoning circuit (for over 8s only).  A combined ticket costs €45 for over 12s, €37 for under 12s, so it makes for an expensive visit….but a full days activity is assured!
For the children:  This attraction is of course made for them!  Under 9s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
