Nord Pas de Calais Attractions  This area of France gets rushed past by hordes heading south, but has some gems that can be enjoyed both  for a holiday close to home, as well as day trips to experience French culture rather than having a booze cruise!  Plan a day trip well and there will be time not only to stock up on wine and spirits, but also to visit a local attraction such as Nausicaa or La Coupole and then top the day off with a meal in a French restaurant!

Aqualud water park

Location: On the Blvd. de la Mer at Le Touquet Beach.
General Info:  Tel: (0)3 21 05 90 96.  Call for opening hours.  Often closed in low season.  Entry costs €16.50 in high season but children under 1metre high are free.  Simple proof of identity is required.
Description: A huge water park on the seafront in Le Touquet with several indoor and outdoor pools, a wave pool and a giant toboggan run. Housed under a glass dome is a giant pool with waves, 'rocky' slides, jacuzzis and a solarium.
Our recommendations: Visit in the summer when the outdoor section is open – this offers 3 more pools, flumes and two new rides, the Black Hole and the Twister.  Friday and Saturday evenings in high season offer cut price admission from 8PM – midnight (€12.50 each).
For the children: If your children like water, they will be in heaven!
