Welcome to the delightful Côte d'Azur!

Otherwise known as the French Riviera, the Cote D’Azur is a playground of the rich and famous with many places that one associates with opulent France – St Tropez, Cannes, Nice, Monaco (the latter being a separate country).  The coastline is beautifuMountains and Viewpoints in Provence - Gorge du VerdonBest beaches in the Côte d'Azur - CassisBest beaches in the Côte d'Azur - CannesBest beaches in the Côte d'Azur - AgayBest beaches in the Côte d'Azur - FréjusCôte d'Azur Attractions - Mont Vinaigre and le Massif de L'EsterelCôte d'Azur Attractions - AquaticaCôte d'Azur Attractions - AqualandCôte d'Azur Attractions - Lerins IslandsCôte d'Azur Attractions - CassisCôte d'Azur Towns - MonacoCôte d'AzurTowns - NiceCôte d'Azur Towns - CannesCôte d'Azur Towns - Port GrimaudCôte d'Azur Towns - St TropezCôte d'Azur Towns - GrasseCôte d'Azur Towns - BiotParfumerie Fragonard at GrasseMini tour west of DraguignanMarineland and the best attractions on the Cote d'AzurWalking in the Mercantour National ParkBeach near Pointe du DéfendeMap of the Côte d'Azurl with delightful coves and sandy beaches, although some areas have been rather over developed and traffic can be heavy in the summer months.

We prefer the areas around St Raphael and Frejus (it gets busy, yet retains a certain charm and avoids the tourist shops and neon lights that tend to spoil some places such as Antibes, Nice, St Tropez) and Cassis/ Ciotat (also unspoilt and less crowded, with dramatic scenery and coastline).

France For Families brings you a wealth of information on this region including the best towns, tourist attractions, and beaches.  If there is anything you think we should add, please use our feedback form.

Family First on the Côte d'AzurSpecialist Advice for Families in the Côte d'Azur

Family First is an excellent website packed with useful information about the Côte d'Azur, written with families in mind.  Whether you are planning a holiday there, or even considering moving to live in the region, we can highly recommend the site.

Beaches in the Riviera

Most people heading to the area will be planning to spend time on the beaches.  The area around St Raphael has some fine beaches….. if you travel from St Tropez to Grimaud you will find the coastline is packed with coves and delightful beaches although many are inevitably packed – it can be hard to find peaceful seclusion here!

Everywhere you will find it busy and parking can be a problem in many places.  If you want to spend a day on the beach you are recommended to make a day of it and arrive early!

Weather..

Certainly the weather has much to recommend it, even in March you can have warm days with temperatures into the low 20 degrees C, although in the early spring and late autumn it can still be chilly when the wind gets up. Up to date forecast here.Temperature Profile
